Does DeskBlur close my windows?

Your apps and documents stay open. DeskBlur changes the visual background: the window you’re using stays clear while other windows sit behind the effects.

Can I dim the background without blur?

Yes. Blur and dimming have separate controls. Use either one or both, and customize the intensity for individual apps.

What about multiple displays?

DeskBlur includes settings for secondary displays. Choose how they behave in the app’s settings.

How does DeskBlur work with Stage Manager?

When Stage Manager is first detected, blur is turned off with an explanatory notice. You can turn it back on. There’s also an option to pause effects while Stage Manager is enabled.

Why might blur be unavailable?

The macOS Reduce Transparency setting can prevent native blur. DeskBlur lets you know; you can continue using dimming.

When can I download DeskBlur?

The first version is being prepared for the Mac App Store. A download link will be added here when it’s available. DeskBlur requires macOS 26 or later.
